Something I'd like to see used for both Free/Premium members.

Wow I waited a long time to hit 500 topics. And I can't change my boards status rank. And when I found out it was for premium I was kinda annoyed. Those who were waiting this long to hit 500 club for that boards feature now has to pay for it. Why can't we just let everyone use it? Since we're not gonna do signitures why not use the boards status ranks for our own use? If we can bring audio profiles back why not this? I think this would be better then adding a signiture.

I agree. I'm not up to 500 yet, but when I get there (I'm getting close) I want to be able to personalize. I was wondering why some people above 500 had the same ranks. Why should premium members have all the fun?

Sorry guys .. some features need to remain premium since the permium members are paying, those were the rules set by J and I see no reason for changing that. It's up to him I suppose but as a premium member, well, I feel I'm entitled to a more flexible configuration as such and as for the audio profiles, only those who had their profiles created before the premium membership was imposed had theirs brought back, others can only make a 20 second profile. If anyone had had 500 posts and, thus, flexible "signature/board phrase" at that point might have been able to keep theirs. However I believe that no one did and thus it is not irrelevant, since benefits were not taken away from those who chose not to pay the permium membership dues.
But I don't really care either way, it'll be up to the site admin as usual.

Well then I can understand the new games in beta being premum, advanced quick notes feature being premium, being invinsible being premium. But something like this for the boards should be for both parties. I mean look what happened with audio profiles? I think those should've stayed premium as those are bandwidth and memory hogs but people demanded it be for both free/premium and I was under the assumption that as long as you hit 500 points you can change your status. I mean what happens if the winner of that profile's contest membership runs dry? Do you think it'd be fair to then auto switch her board status to whatever everyone else's is? As long as your above 500 topics you should be able to make your own status. Isn't that elete enough? :( But I guess everytime I make a suggestion for this site my suggestion gets shot down. Oh but if someone here who wanted their audio profiles back and pushed I think we should do the same? Boards statuses showes our creativity weather you are a premium member or not.

Blindvi's right. And remember, ranks started being used on the boards before there even was a Premium Membership (not long before but still) and it was said that _anybody who made 500 posts and over could personalize their rank. I think they should've kept it that way.

I agree with blindvi, I mean, maybe if they had said it was being tested for premium features, that would be one thing, but we weren't told it ever would be a premium feature. I almost stopped coming on this board because I figured everything was going to be premium. Well I still read the suggestions, as I think some of them are interesting, but I won't be making any suggestions of my own anymore.

kind of cool to see the tag lines they chose change as points increase and you can see immediately from the tag line approximately how frequently someone posts but it's not a major issue really.

well I made it up to I just keep on posting, but I guess that's as high as I'll get, since I believe the next one up is I'm going for the prolific poster award. Frankly I don't expect to get that one, lol

I dunno what to think. On one hand I think it's good that premiums have somethign as cool as board ranks. That's something cool they have that sort of sets them apart. On the other hand, I agree with BlindVI in that it'd be an awesome thing to have, and that after reaching 500 posts and proving yoruself a loyal member this might e a nice thing to receive. But liek I said, I'm okay with it either way, and might go premium anyway at some point. Caitlin

WW, please don't stop suggesting things cuz you're worried everything's going to be premium. We definitely don't plan on doing this. There are some features that we may roll out for premium members, but we continue to make improvements to the whole site. Take deleting sent mail and the pagination on the board pages as examples. Many of the slash Quicknote commands, in fact all but invisible, are free and more will be added. The truth is that we haven't added much of anything to the site in january, namely because I'm back in school and the others haven't had as much time. We tend to go in spurts sometimes. We're setting the site up now to make it easier for more developers to work on the site and try out new features. The coolest thing about that is that we'll now get to test some things before they go live on the site, so the chances of the whole site coming down because of some code error are now virtually gone,. Oh, and the domain name is renewed, so we won't be having that again, grin.

thanks J, I just didn't know, like for one thing, if each person could have his or her own board, that would be kind of neat, but it would be so cool it would have to be premium
I can't think of anything right now, guess I'm all thought out, and I'm taking a risk of getting myself further in the dog house if I even so much as dare start a topic on any board except the safe haven category. We just can't afford it, and I might be getting dsl lite if and when it becomes available in march, and we meet the requirements. It would probably be very interesting talking on the ventrilo server with some of the ones who I have had board conversations with, those who have replied to my posts, and those I have replied to.

I can't really say what I want, because I'm premium, but yeah, not being rude or nothing, but I don't think it was announced that board titles were going to only premium members. And yeah, the normal ones are cool; but like BlindVi said, peopel have been waiting for the custom titles for a long time. and they've lost the chance. that's only my thinking though.

Post 14 by Caitlin (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 04-Feb-2005 20:22:33

Good points, Alison. And thanks, J, for that post. I can't wait for new features! Lol...

Agreed Alison sorry about the late reply. Been busy.

Post 16 by 1800trivia (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Sunday, 20-Feb-2005 11:13:27

I don't think that the titles are a real big deal; why not just let everyone have them, especially the default ones that talk about how frequently you've posted? I doubt they'll be either a major deterrent or incentive for premium membership either way. BTW, when you ask people to be premium members, you might include an assessment of how much the web site costs to run, so we all know what the money will be used for.

Post 17 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 20-Feb-2005 14:11:41

Yeah I agree with Blindguy, that afer 500 posts, that we should be able to make our own costeom t tiutles. John

Post 18 by Caitlin (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 20-Feb-2005 16:16:41

Everyone gets default titles and that's pretty nifty anyway! I find them amusing...

Post 19 by Jess227 on Sunday, 20-Feb-2005 19:10:04

correction JH, it's blindvi, not blind guy. I don't think he'd care too much about anything related to this website.
